Coconut Kumquat – $10G & J: Nobody walks in to Coastes without first ordering a cocktail or mocktail. Beat the heat with this refreshing concoction of coconut slices, juice and calamansi. Yum!
Baked Portobello & Arugula Ciabatta – $16G & J: This is a great option for “eat-clean”. Not only are the ciabatta buns covered in fresh ricotta cheese and tomato spread, it is also packed with nutritious and juicy baked portobello shrooms. And lots of greens. Served with a side of crispy potato wedges.
If you want something more meaty, there’s the corned beef version, which comes with garlic aioli and crunchy red cabbage. It is wrapped and flattened into a ham-like patty, so it’s really easy to eat.
Bourbon-glazed Pork Ribs – $20 (half slab) / $30 (full slab)G & J: For the carnivores in all of us: tender and glazed ribs. Wish the sauce could be more robust though!
Spicy Penne Arrabiatta – $22Green Curry Chicken Spaghetti – $24G & J: Between these two noodle dishes, we prefer the green curry one as it is more unique and has a stronger taste for a lasting impression. The asparagus and capsicum provided a nice crunch, and complemented the juicy strips of chicken. However, it can get quite “gelat” so we recommend sharing! If you prefer a lighter option, the spicy penne might be a wiser choice. Tossed with mushrooms, asparagus and olives, it makes for a healthier main course, albeit a little spicy.
Seafood Risotto – $32G & J: Think fresh tiger prawns, cod fish, crab meat and asparagus on a warm bed of rice. While it is enjoyable, we reckon the price is a little steep.
Not featured: Seafood Platter ($52) which includes buttery clams, cold prawns with spicy mango and grilled lobsters.
Chocolate and Banana Pie – $14Salted Caramel Brownie – $14G & J: Ending the meal on a high with a selection of delectable desserts. Our favourite? The salted caramel brownie, hands down! Moist with rich chocolate ganache, this decadent dessert saw us scooping up till the very last drop of vanilla ice cream.
Not featured: Forest Berries & Ceam Cheese Trifle ($15)
Overall, there is a good variety of dishes to cater to different tastebuds, but the prices are a little on the high side. Go for the cocktails and take advantage of their happy hour deals, we say! A cosy place for a beach hangout, though we dread the drive in to Sentosa.
