Jamie’s Italian @ Vivocity

Fans of Jamie’s Italian can look forward to a refreshed ala carte menu of tasty, comforting new dishes that are available at both VivoCity and Forum restaurants. For the first time at their Vivocity outlet, they are launching their signature baked-to-order artisan pizzas. Jamie’s Italian may finally be living up to the hype.

Ultimate Garlic Bread – $9jamie italian review by projectweekends singaporeG: Warm artisan buttermilk buns with herby garlic butter, Parmesan & rosemary. I’m not a fan of bread but this loaf was fluffy, and when you tear the pieces apart, the smell was nothing short of aromatic.

Venetian Fish Stew – $28jamie italian review by projectweekends singaporeG: This was a fish stew that comprises of sustainable fish and shellfish cooked in a rich tomato & Fiano white wine sauce with fregola, crostini & crab aioli. I particularly enjoyed the shellfish as they were juicy and fresh, and prawns were crunchy. Dip the piece of toast into the tomato for the relish factor. The gravy is a tad salty if you eat it on its own.

Chicken Milanese – $28.50jamie italian review by projectweekends singaporeG: The free-range chicken is flattened and rubbed with truffle cream before being layered with Provolone cheese and Prosciutto. The chicken is then lightly floured, egged, bread crumbed and fried gently in oil until golden brown. Topped with a fried egg, truffle oil and dressed baby watercress. Make sure to break the egg to let the yolk seep into the chicken as the meat inside is a little dry.

* Jamie’s Italian VivoCity now also offers pizzas in their refreshed menu.  Pizza dough is made fresh daily from a combination of manitoba (a premium Italian bread flour), yeast and water, then shaped through gentle stretching (not rolling) which is key to developing its crisp texture and crust. It is also served on a special stoneware plate which retains the heat and crispness of the pizzas for longer.

jamie italian review by projectweekends singaporeFunghi Misti – $23.50jamie italian review by projectweekends singaporeG: This pizza is made with porcini mushroom sauce, roasted herby mushrooms (oyster mushrooms & Paris mushrooms), mozzarella, chervil and tarragon. A clear favourite at our table, the crispy thin crust and the sprinkle of shrooms made the overall pizza easy to eat and wanting more.

Creamy Panna Cotta – $10.50jamie italian review by projectweekends singaporeG: Panna cotta simply means “cooked cream” in Italian. The mark of a good panna cotta is its wobbly-ness which means it’s set but still silky soft and creamy, and with the seasonal fruit compote on top, this one wasn’t that far off the mark, albeit a little too creamy for my liking.

The revamped menu is worth a shot, if you order the right things.
