Montana @ PoMo • Traditional Flavours With Creative Twists

0

Montana Singapore is back with a newly refreshed menu, focusing on wholesome food and quality coffee. The kitchen team is proud to showcase traditional flavours with creative twists – think Assam Crab Waffle inspired by Chef’s hometown food of Kedah Laksa, or a Kuroi Black Velvet Waffles with a black sesame base that would remind many of Japan. Their signature Red Velvet Stacked Waffles and Jalapeno Mac & Cheese Waffles are still there, don’t worry! We heard they are even more popular these days. Not only is the menu revamped, their spanking new decorations are bar and kitchen goals too.

The decor and ambience is gush-worthy.

Mains

Mac Daddy with House-made Bun – $17anarchy by montana review by projectweekends singaporeG & J: 160g beef patty with creamy mac & cheese, jalapeños bits, with a generous side of thick cut fries. We wish the beef can be more seasoned, because the mac & cheese definitely outshines its counterpart.

Braised Beef Cheek with Carrot Kimchi – $20.80anarchy by montana review by projectweekends singaporeG & J: Now this is one of the highlights. The braised beef was soft and tender, and melts in your mouth. The sweet and potato mash also lives up to expectations, so don’t expect any less from the free-range poached egg, which is flowy. The freshly toasted wholemeal bread slices gives the overall dish a more solid feel and bite. Only the kimchi radish was a little funky; not because it tasted weird, but it did not complement the other ingredients well.

Crab Burger with Yuzu Coleslaw – $24anarchy by montana review by projectweekends singaporeG & J: Crab and seafood patty is something you don’t usually find in cafes, so this one will come as a pleasant surprise. Each bite is full of crab meat and prawn, and the yuzu coleslaw with raisin carper relish could just be the best amalgamation of yuzu and salad ever.

Peking Chicken Confit with Waffle – $16.50anarchy by montana review by projectweekends singaporeG & J: This five-spice chicken confit is newly introduced in Montana, and it’s thumbs up from us. The general consensus from the table about the smoked ginger plum sauce is that, however, it does not go very well with the chicken. The smoked ginger plum coleslaw is quite refreshing though!

Dessert

Salted Caramel Cookie Butter Freak Cake – $14.80anarchy by montana review by projectweekends singaporeMatcha Black Sesame Freak Cake – $14.80anarchy by montana review by projectweekends singaporeG & J: These freak cakes are all the rage right now, with layers of flavour-infused sponge cake and frosting. The matcha is generally preferred over the salted caramel one – which turned out to be a little too sweet and salty, and the overall texture of the cakes is not too dry. The servings are on the bigger side though, so make sure to share your desserts!

Montana’s new outlook is getting us all excited, so drop by if you’re around the area or thinking of a “chillax” place for dinner.
