My Little Tapas Bar

2

Club Street is home to bustling rows of quaint cafes, restaurants and chill-out bars. Frequented by office workers and caucasians, Club Street is more than often not the place to hang out after work for some drinks and light snacks. My Little Tapas Bar is conveniently located at the near end of Club Street, a mere 5-min walk from Telok Ayer station. An authentic Spanish place that serves cuisines and drinks that are famous in Spain. We say hola!

All their “Jamon” (cured ham) are hand carved, and comes from different regions in Spain.

Given another choice, I would’ve picked a regular Hendrick’s gin and tonic topped with cucumber.

Sangria Tinta – $12my little tapas bar 42 club street reviewed by projectweekends singaporemy little tapas bar 42 club street reviewed by projectweekends singaporeJ : A truly refreshing glass of red wine, sprite, soda and fruit mix.

Jamon Serrano (Spanish Cured Ham) – $7
Manchego (Sheep hard cheese) – $8my little tapas bar 42 club street reviewed by projectweekends singaporeG & J: The ham was just the right amount of salty and not overly chewy. Eaten with the cheese slices and bits of quince (stone jelly), you can say these two platters combined is a winner. The bread was also light and crispy, and went well with the cheese.

Croquetas de Jamon – $10my little tapas bar 42 club street reviewed by projectweekends singaporeG: Breaded and deep-fried creamy croquettes with alioli. The croquettes were not crispy enough on the outside, and the inner filling of creamy ham were not as impactful as I had hoped.

J: I enjoyed how the cheese exploded in my mouth though. It is fragrant yet not overpowering.

Chorizo a la Plancha – $14my little tapas bar 42 club street reviewed by projectweekends singaporeG & J: Another wonderful dish that we couldn’t get enough of. Chorizo is a kind of Spanish sausage, and in this dish it was grilled to perfection and topped with cameralized onions and manchego cheese. Have we mentioned how addictive the cheese is yet? There is also a good mix of greens and meat.

Gambas Picantes – $14

my little tapas bar 42 club street reviewed by projectweekends singaporeG & J: The prawns were super duper fresh! That small pot of boiling olive oil, garlic, chilli and smoked paprika smelled and tasted simply heavenly. We were spooning it to our mouths and drinking it like soup. Better yet, dip the slices of freshly baked bread into it for a better experience. Muy bien!

Sardines en escabeche – $14my little tapas bar 42 club street reviewed by projectweekends singaporeG & J: The sardines tasted slightly fishy, and there were many coarse bones in it. The toast and pepper puree were good though; if only it weren’t sardines on top!

Patatas Bravas – $10my little tapas bar 42 club street reviewed by projectweekends singaporeG & J: A very good snack to go along with your drinks, though slightly pricey for a small bowl of deep fried shaved potatoes. It has a tinge of spice that was refreshing though.

Albondigas – $12my little tapas bar 42 club street reviewed by projectweekends singaporeJ: These homemade beef and pork meatballs were marinated with spicy garlic, but did not taste as good as it should’ve been. It was a little too dry inside, and the tomato-based sauce was pretty bland too.

Tarta de Chocolate – $12my little tapas bar 42 club street reviewed by projectweekends singaporeG & J: Comes with a scoop of homemade ice-cream and a generous sprinkle of cinnamon at the side. Non-fans of cinnamon may find it a bit too overwhelming, but the tart more than makes up for it. The three-layered chocolate tart has a biscuit bottom and a creamy chocolatey top. Very satisfying.

Overall, there were some hits and misses but generally it is a good place to go if you’re looking to chill out after work with drinks and tapas. Might be slightly steep in terms in pricing, but hey, you get to mix your own gin drink. Also, where else can you get such authentic Spanish tapas to go along with your curated drinks?
