R.E.234 Bangkok

Look twice, or you might just pass this by. Indeed, we stumbled upon this quaint little European-style cafe quite incidentally, while on our way to Roast. The design of the restaurant was very classy and minimalist, with full-length glass panels as windows. Be brave, venture in, and you’ll find some cool respite from the burning sun. With good food to boot.

Slap on some butter to accentuate the fragrance and flavour of the buns. We enjoyed this little gesture from the cafe!

Mixed Mushroom Ciabatta – 240 Bahtre234 bangkok hidden treasures review projectweekends singaporeG & J: The grilled ciabatta was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The black and white Shimeji shrooms were tossed with bacon and seasoned with salt, rosemary and black pepper spices. There were no pungent smells from the mushrooms; they were fresh. Served with a side of garden salad and tomatoes.

Pork Truffle Burger – 260 Bahtre234 bangkok hidden treasures review projectweekends singaporeG & J: Spicy pork? Truffle? Cheese? Check, check, check. The generous portioning of two patties made the order worth it and filling. Pork patties are usually tough, but this one proved to be tender. The use of rosemary heightened the spice factor, but unfortunately overwhelmed the truffle taste. Served with regular fries.

The cafe provided a quiet and calm backdrop to the busy Bangkok streets outside. Not only was the service up-to-par, the good food made this place a “must-drop-by” when you visit Sukhumvit.
